Rob Zombie directs “Torturer” commercial for Woolite
Not even the Clorox song about mama’s magic can withstand the coolness of this new laundry detergent ad.
I’m not sure what’s more amazing: that Woolite asked Rob Zombie to create a commercial for them or they he agreed. Although Zombie doesn’t seem too sure either.
“It’s a very bizarre TV commercial for a product like this,” said Zombie. “Honestly, I was shocked when they called me to do it.”

“Hot Ad Girls” Made Fun
Hey, have you seen ‘Who Is That Hot Girl?’ on Tumblr? On the surface, it’s another site about hot women. On the other hand, it’s a blog that dedicated to giving names and quick backgrounds to generally unknown actresses in the industry. Also, I support attractive ladies doing their thing, so I’m cool with seeing more of them.
For example:
Q: Who is the cute girl/actress in the Apple Facetime Haircut commercial?
A: Kether Donohue. She is a 25 year old actress who also does voice work. She is best known for the voice of the temperamental divaesque Lily on the Nicktoons Network “anime” series Kappa Mikey, Luna & Angela Rains on Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s, and Zoe on Dinosaur King. Donahue was also featured in the video for “Coder Girl” by Dale Chase. Thanks Wikipedia.
Now where’s the blog about hot dudes? Because I also support them.
Justin Bieber Dance-Off For The American Music Awards
This an American Music Awards promo, but you don’t find that out until the very end. Up until that time, it’s a pretty silly video featuring a bunch of burly bikers performing a dance routine to Justin Bieber.
First of all, what bar is this? I would like to make it my regular spot. Secondly, it’s promos like these that have made me defend advertising as place that can still be fun and creative for filmmakers and writers alike. (That, and my general existence a contrarian but mostly the fun part.)
Happy Thursday!
Kid Cudi, Best Coast, and Rostam of Vampire Weekend perform “All Summer”
I’ve been addicted to the Kid Cudi/Best Coast/Rostam Batmanglig advertising track, “All Summer,” an almost unnecessary amount. There really is just something about the sound of it that fits into the mild weather we’ve been having here in Southern California this season.
Converse is kicking it up even more than they did with their last campaign, though, arranging invite/RSVP show that featured all three of the campaign artists. It doesn’t get much better than a free show and free drinks, and then to tope it off, there’s this cool opportunity to see a live performance that may not have happened otherwise.
